I know in some parts of the world it is blustery, cold and raining as Fall is now in full force. Right now, I’m in Maui with my family where it’s in the 80’s and sunny and warm. (Don’t even get me started on the acai bowls from Farmacy Health Bar in Downtown Maui!) I am taking total advantage of the fresh mangos, strawberry papayas, and pineapples from Yee’s Fruit stand in Kihei. They are fresh from the tree and are the sweetest and juiciest tropical fruit I have ever tasted in my life! It would be a sin not to make a smoothie with all of this local fresh fruit.
Around my house I always keep frozen strawberries, pineapple and mangoes stocked in the freezer to make smoothies (I have found the most budget friendly organic frozen fruit is from Costco). Since there is a toddler in the house there is never a lack of bananas in the fruit bowl on our kitchen counter. When the fruit is in season, buy it fresh and not frozen. Frozen still tastes great and I get no complaints from my taste testers.
I’m always looking for ways to make breakfast interesting, packed with protein, and of course delicious. It’s so easy too. Just pour all the ingredients into your Vitamix (a blender will work too) and just a few short seconds later; you are left with tasty perfection!
This Tropical Smoothie is my son’s favorite breakfast. He would drink one everyday if he could. It’s sweet, creamy, healthy, protein filled, and tastes divine! I also like to pair this meal with the Breakfast Quesadillas from Weelicious, which you can find here. Check the quesadilla recipe out, it has more protein and flavor to add to your morning. Add this Tropical Smoothie and quesadilla recipe to your weekly breakfast menu plan. You won’t be sorry! Enjoy and Aloha!
I wasn’t kidding when I said it was his favorite! 😉
