We moved to Southern California at the end of spring from the Northwest and the summer was scorching hot. It’s different here. You stay inside during the summer with the ac on to survive the high temperatures. We were told that the fall and winter would be wonderful and sunny. We are now having one of the rainiest winters California has seen in years. But hey, that’s ok! It’s chili and football weather. No complaints here!
Super Bowl Sunday is just a little over a week away and I will be eating a giant bowl of this Black Bean & Chorizo Chili. Let’s be real though, Super Bowl Sunday is really all about watching the commercials and eating good food!
My husband is requesting this chili for the big game and I don’t blame him. It’s got a little kick, chorizo, smoky chipotle chilies, tender black beans, and my favorite addition, dark chocolate to add a little mole flair! Let it cook for an hour or cook it the day before. Chili always tastes so much better the next day when the flavors have had time to party in the pot even more. Once the chili is done, serve it with your favorite toppings such as sour cream, jalapenos, cheese, pepitas, cilantro, onions, or whatever sounds good to you! Cheers to delicious chili!
